Happy 2546
This is the weekend of the Lao New Year celebration in Lanexang Village, a temple-centered Lao community in rural Iberia Parish. We feel very fortunate to have this community in our midst, and love to go to the annual celebration. A theme of the new year observation is ritual cleansing, which has a fun twist amongst the young, who spray each other with water pistols and cover each other with shaving cream! There are booths with food and other goods, and a parade on Saturday. Several more photos from today's events can be seen by clicking here.

Car Ad?
Susan and I had an afternoon snack picnic at the state park at Indian Creek Reservoir the other day, and we thought our new car looked just like something out of a car ad...
04.3.2003/12:04

No fools we, Susan and I took the day off to go hiking on April Fool's Day, heading up to Kisatchie National Forest to find a place called Loving Creek, which I zeroed in on with my GPS. Better fun, though, was turning off the GPS and finding the way back to the car by looking at the direction of our shadows.
