We went to our friends Patrick and Elizabeth's house last night, and without having particularly planned it that way, had a fresh pickings meal. I made tomato soup from fresh market tomatoes and thyme from our garden; Elizabeth made potato pancakes with spuds from the same market, as well as this lemon tart topped by blueberries from the bushes in her yard; and Patrick mixed watermelon martinis with juice I had squeezed. I rounded out my camera upgrading last week at BH Photo Video, picking up the new Pentax Optio S4i. It's a tiny little package, and is part of the new generation of cameras that eliminate shutter lag once the focus is completed. But, as you can see from this cicada photo, it is inclined to redeye.

In any case, it's a great slip in the pocket and forget about until you see a photo to shoot camera.
