Pearl Street
We fecthed up more or less by chance in Boulder, CO, last night on the way to our cabin near Estes Park. The downtown has a few streets blocked off into a pedestrian mall. I'll be asking my sister, who was hear when her husband was in law school in the early 1970s, what downtown was like in those days. She is certain to have seen it recently to monitor the change, as my nephew Beau graduated from the University of Colorado just months ago.

Marvelous dances
Last night I dreamed that Performing Arts Society of Acadiana, the performing arts group I work with, had brought in a dance company that performed a piece portraying dogs playing cards. I wrote to my friend Jackie Lyle, PASA's executive director, about it this morning, joking that this might make a good candidate for PASA's next commissioning project.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea! How about commissioning three or four choreographers - say, David Parsons, Garth Fagan, Paul Taylor and Elisa Monte - to do a 20 minute or so Dogs Playing Cards dance, and make it into a gala evening. Commissioning the music would be just as important, getting matches that spark the creativity of the choreographers as wells as create new musical works. Then, sit back and prepare to be delightfully surprised.

I wonder if we could get a big grant to do this from a casino?

Good job
In my next life, perhaps I'll come back as a sundial, which would be nice because then I would only have to work when it's sunny out.

So far, the way I figure that you can travel to the U.K. and have your laptop is to fly in and out of Paris and take the Chunnel.

Frankenfoot
Susan stepped on a big piece of glass in the back yard a couple of weeks ago and only yesterday had the five stitches removed. During that time I had to drive her around, cook for her, pick up after her and generally tend to her every need - and I am not accustomed to driving for her!

Driving for her was actually the most palatable of all of it. It's kind of nice to head somewhere when it's someone else's destination... there's a comfortable sense of removal from the hubbub.

The hardest part was keeping her off the foot, what with her being the focused sort of individual she is. But fortunately, medical professionals weighed in with their opinions and she gritted her teeth and stayed on the sofa when she was supposed to and soldiered around on crutches like a good patient.

She's much better now though still tender of foot. She can drive herself around again, which is good, of course, though I sort of miss my chauffer assignment.

More Prototype
Here's another Prototype project,a proof-of-concept for a performing arts calendar on one of my web sites: LPN CitySelect.

I don't particularly mean to favor Prototype over Spry, Flex 2, etc., it just happens to have worked out that way, with Prototype being the solution to a couple of issues on these projects. I plan to use Flex in a big way on a couple of projects, particularly the back end admin, but there's nothing showable yet and might not be since these will be back ends to data.
